The Research Group "Finance and Development" aims to carry out scientific research in several topics regarding the relation between economic development and financial system. The study of the financial systems in low-income countries is emphasized.
From the point of view of the institutional system, the most stressed topics regard the analysis of the risk management strategies adopted by the microfinance institutions and the assessment of financial services adequacy to the market requirements.
Moreover, another interest is about the demand analysis and the study in depth of the saving and borrowing decisions. A peculiar and new research thread regards the applicability assessment of behavioural finance principles to microfinance.
The group is also interested in macroeconomics issues, as the relations among economic growth, credit market and capital market or the effects of the monetary policy on the effectiveness of financial services.
