Re-reading Marx - New Perspectives after the Critical Edition

Roberto Finelli, University of Bari - The presupposition-posit circe in the Grundrisse. Marx beyond historical materialism

The New MEGA 2 Grundrisse, with the critical edition of the text, the variants, the links with the in the Abteilung IV, allows us to see much better than prior editions how the whole Marxian exposition of commodity, money, and capital follows Hegel's Logic of the presupposition-posit.
There is however a substantial difference, which the secondary literature did not noticed, In Hegel the dynamic factor of categories is negation-contradiction, whereas in Marx it is not logocal abstraction but real abstraction.
The new edition permits also to specify how this peculiar logic and methodology is valid also for the reading of pre-modern history and pre-capitalist societies. The paper aims to show how in the Grundrisse there are many places where Marx, though not with a sufficient reflexive conscience, overcome the limits of the historical materialist view held in The German Ideology.
