Born and bred in Milan (1951), he graduated in Philosophy at the University of Milan, and has been working in the information industry since 1983. He nas been lecturing at the University of Bergamo since 2000, and the University of Trento from 2017. He also lectures at the Universities of Genoa and Piemonte Orientale.

He contributed to the Rough Guides, Time Out, the Touring Club of Italy, the Provincial Authority of Milan, the Mondadori, Hoepli, Zanichelli, and De Agostini publishing houses, and is editor at the ciaomilano.it website. He designed and edits the website of the Case Museo in Italia network.

A consultant for public administrations in Milano, Como and Bergamo, as well as for publishing companies, from the year 2000 until 2009 he was a resident consultant on digital communication, the European projects, content management, and mobile devices at the Touring Club of Italy - which he keeps working for.

He has provided academic contributions on digital and tourism to McGraw-Hill, Hoepli, FrancoAngeli, the universities of Bergamo, Limoges, Bologna, and Venice Ca' Foscari.

He is a member of Sistur, Società italiana di Scienze del Turismo, and Ifitt, International Federation for Information Technology and Travel & Tourism.

My current interests include history of tourism, the web reputation of destinations and cultural institutes, peer-to-peer platforms, and responsive web design.

Other topics that I've recently taken responsibility about, while supervising final dissertations, are social media analysis in managing big events, social media marketing for spas, the impact of ICT on urban tourists' behaviour, tourism websites quality evaluation, and etourism didactics.
