Valerio Re is full professor of Electronics. He received the a M. Sc. degree in Physics (Summa cum Laude) from the University of Milano, Italy, in 1985. In 1990 he received the Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Pavia. He has been a Visiting Scientist in the U.S.A. at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. He is presently the chair of the Ph.D. program in Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University of Bergamo. Since October 2015 he is the Head of the Department of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
His current research interests are in the field of microelectronics for the instrumentation of high energy physics experiments at particle accelerators and of X-ray imagers at photon science facilities. He is focusing on nanoscale CMOS technologies and 3D integration for the design of microelectronic circuits for the processing of signals delivered by semiconductor sensors. In 2013, Valerio Re has joined the CMS experiment at CERN and collaborates at the design of front-end electronic systems for future upgrades of pixel detectors in the CMS Tracker.
Presently he is also collaborating with microelectronic industries and with national and international research institutes at the design and test of wearable sensor systems for biomedical and environmental monitoring.
Valerio Re is author or coauthor of more than 300 papers on international scientific journals and conference proceedings.
