STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT (ITA 37176, Fall 2017 / Spring 2018)

The success of a company over time is described by its strategy. The future stands on the ability to find the direction to recreate the conditions for growth, even under great uncertainty and a very fast global changing environment. Uncertainty and complexity are the main issues of the current global scenarios to be exploited through increasing strategic management capabilities. Strategic change and complexity management are the main issues of the new millennium both for economics and business.
The course introduces the concept of strategic management and deals with the basic directions and goals of organizations, industries, market structures and the impact of the new technologies.
Great emphasis is put on the strategic evolution driven by the unceasing digital innovation, a pervasive disruptive transformation undermining the strategic plans in a matter of months or even days, but at the same time creating great opportunities provided that new paradigm shifts are perceived and realized.

The course is informed by management practice with a combination of lectures, case studies, class discussions and executive seminars, and exploits synergies with both courses Entrepreneurship and Corporate Venture (37027 ENG) in English and ImprenditorialitÓ, Innovazione e Marketing (37171 ITA) in Italian.
